I wrote “Your own prisoner” in the aftermath of a fight with my dad. That argument made me realize a few things about life in general, and those discoveries became the fuel for this song.

While the inspiration was personal, I wanted to translate my emotions into a universal experience so that anyone who listens can find their own story within mine.

The song focused on a cycle I discovered: You think → You act → You feel. We do this every single day, over and over again. It creates a circle that we eventually find ourselves trapped in.
